When the stone resources in the local area were exhausted, they began extracting stone by establishing large underground caverns inside Mount Stendafjellet. The excavated material from these caverns is processed into stone products for the construction and civil engineering industry, while the caverns are subsequently used as a landfill for contaminated material.<\/p><p>At the company's site in R\u00e5dalen, Strand, one of the companies in the FM Group, is underway with the construction of what will be Bergen's first stationary washing plant for contaminated soil and rock materials from construction and civil engineering sites in the region. In order to build something new in an area where there has previously been some form of activity, ground investigations must be carried out.
