Fana Stein & Gjenvinning is about to take a big step towards a greener construction industry.

Can reuse 80 percent
Fana Stein & Gjenvinning was established as a quarry and crushing plant in 1954. When the stone resources in the local area ran out, they began extracting stone by establishing large rock halls inside Stendafjellet. The materials from the rock halls are processed into stone products for the construction industry, while the rock halls are subsequently used for landfill of contaminated materials.
At the company's construction site in Rådalen, Strand, one of the FM Gruppen companies, is in the process of building what will be Bergen's first fixed washing plant for contaminated soil and rock materials from construction sites in the region. To be able to build new in an area where there has previously been some form of activity, ground investigations must be carried out. If it turns out that the materials in the ground are contaminated, they must be removed.
